Eufy Video Doorbell S4: 3K Panoramic VR Doorbell

Eufy is calling it the world’s first VR doorbell, and for once the marketing label describes something genuinely new. The Eufy Video Doorbell S4, which started shipping in late September 2026 at $299.99, pairs a 9MP 3K panoramic camera with a VR viewing mode that lets you look around your entryway by moving your phone — or a headset — as if you were standing there.

First shown at CES 2026 in January, the S4 anchors Eufy’s new Edge 5.0 Yard Protection System alongside the SoloCam E50 outdoor camera.

A 180-degree eye on the door

The S4’s optical system is the star: a 9-megapixel sensor recording 3K video (3072 x 3072) at up to 24fps with HDR, behind a lens covering 180 degrees both horizontally and vertically. Eufy says the frame stretches from floor level to ceiling height and wall to wall — visitors captured head to toe, packages visible right against the door.

When someone rings the bell, the alert arrives like an incoming video call; answering opens the feed in full-screen VR mode with two-way audio. You can pan around the panoramic image freely instead of being stuck with a fixed crop.

OmniTrack AI keeps eyes on people

Eufy’s OmniTrack AI tracking system locks onto a person in the frame, and auto-framing crops the panoramic image to keep them centered — giving you a tighter, follow-cam view of each event. Accuracy and false-alarm reduction are handled by a radar sensor paired with dual PIR sensors, a step up from the PIR-only detection on older Eufy hardware.

Other specs include up to 8x digital zoom, dual spotlights for color night vision, a 2,600mAh backup battery for power outages, battery-or-mains power options, and dual-band Wi-Fi 6.

No subscription, local storage

As with the rest of Eufy’s lineup, footage is stored locally via the HomeBase S380 hub — no monthly plan required, and AI processing happens on-device. The doorbell ships with the wireless Chime 2, and Eufy sells a bundle with two SoloCam E50 cameras and a HomeBase S380 for $949.98.

Why it matters

The doorbell camera has barely changed form in a decade: a tall rectangle of video, a motion alert, a two-way talk button. The S4’s panoramic VR approach is the first real rethink of what a doorbell feed can be — and it arrives as competitors squeeze more resolution out of the same old rectangle.

The bigger strategic point is Eufy’s no-subscription stance. While Ring and Arlo funnel users toward paid AI tiers, Eufy is betting that on-device intelligence plus local storage is the more appealing pitch. The S4 is the flagship test of that thesis.

Outlook

At $299.99, the S4 sits at the premium end of the doorbell market — but it’s offering a genuinely different experience, not just more pixels. If the VR mode and OmniTrack tracking work as advertised in daily use, expect the panoramic concept to spread fast. The rest of the Edge 5.0 lineup, including the TrackLight Cam S1 and Window Camera E10, will show how far Eufy takes the platform.
